BOXES & TRAYS

AVOID PLACING IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.

UV light will cause the rich colors of the wood to fade much quicker, and the heat will cause the wood to expand and contract affecting the function of the box.

DON’T STORE MOIST MATERIAL

Although the finish is water-resistant, prolonged exposure to moisture can cause the wood to move and rot.

IF THE HINGES ARE SEIZED

Very carefully apply 3-in-1 oil or another light oil to only the hinge, use extreme caution because the oil will stain the box. Wipe off any excess and slowly open and close the lid.

WATER SPILLS

All of my products are protected with a water-resistant finish, light spills can be wiped up with a cloth and left to dry.

Do not try and speed up the drying time with warm air or heat.

If the spill is large enough to cover the bottom of the tray or box quickly empty the water and allow it to dry. If the wood's finish matches the outside then you can continue using the tray or box as before. If the finish looks different after the tray or box has dried please contact me for refinishing steps. If the surface feels fuzzy, then you may need to lightly refinish the surface, you can follow the steps on the furniture care instructions for refinishing.

YOUR BOX OR TRAY GETS SCRATCHED

The finish should prevent most, but keep in mind that small scratches are part of the box’s history, as it moves through the generations it will get minor marks. If the scratch is visually obtrusive and you would like it repaired please contact me for detailed instructions. You will be able to repair the scratch by yourself, but it’s best if I walk you through the steps.

THE LID DOESN’T SIT FLAT

Don’t worry, since the box is made from real wood it is going to move constantly depending on the humidity. To minimize movement store the box in an area with consistent humidity, avoid placing it near open windows or bathrooms. If the gap persists please contact me.
